Braun Ear Thermometer

Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?) Until receiving this Braun, I'd essentially given up on IR Ear Thermometers. The ones branded by the local pharmacy chains, at first glance, look similar, but their performance could not possibly be more different than this Braun, which FAR out-performs them.
The biggest problem I've found with generic OTC IR Ear Thermometers available in the local Rx chains is that they don't have what Braun appropriately calls "repeatable accuracy." With each reading, the off-brand thermometers' temperature keeps increasing with each use until the units shut down from overheating. Not true with this Braun.
As the description says, the unit "pre-warms" the tip, and you can take multiple readings to double- and triple-check accuracy, unlike the off-brand ones I've tried. With the off-brands, you never know when the units are properly primed or, "warmed-up," so should one accept the first 98.1˚ reading, the next 99.5˚ reading, or the subsequent 100.9˚ reading??? It's _impossible_ to know which of those is accurate -- that is, until one tries this Braun, upon which the readings are repeatably accurate. Hurrah!!!
I don't have a lab in which I can prove the accuracy of this Braun thermometer, but I know from 25 years of doctors' office visits that my core body temperature naturally runs about a degree lower than the vaunted 98.6˚F "normal" touchstone. After priming this Braun Ear Thermometer for the first time, my first reading was 97.8˚F, and I instantly had a trusted new medical-device "friend," especially since I could repeat that result within a couple tenths of a degree over the next couple of minutes.
I now FINALLY have a trusted thermometer in the house, and since the replaceable filters are reasonably priced (not to mention the ubiquitous nature of the device's AA batteries, which Braun engineers thankfully chose), I can use it with confidence and frequency on other family members as well.
