At first I was unsure about ordering this product because of the expected shipping time and the lack of reviews about whether the tape would work with gel nail systems (such as Gelish and Shellac). The package arrived much earlier than expected, and the tape was in perfect condition. I found that the tape was easy to apply the first time, although some rolls were difficult to get started (tweezers helped), and it looked amazing! The metallic silver really enhanced my plain manicure, and it was relatively easy to apply. Unfortunately, I encountered two major problems with my first application: 1.) I left the tape just a little bit too long on some of my nails. Since it was so close to the edge of my nails, it didn't take long for it to start peeling up. 2.) The gel top coat absolutely would not adhere to the foil, even after curing it in my UV lamp. I thought that I wouldn't be able to use it with my gel polish, but I discovered a solution that seems to work well. I put a layer of foundation gel over the tape, followed by a layer of top coat. That worked perfectly. It created a seamless finish with no bumps or ridges, so my nails were completely smooth. Below are the steps that I used to add the striping tape to my Gelish manicure:



1.) Apply a layer of foundation gel, then cure under the UV lamp (as per the instructions).

2.) Apply a layer of color, then cure.

3.) Repeat step 2, if necessary.

4.) Apply a layer of top coat, then cure and remove the tacky residue with alcohol.

5.) Cut the striping tape into small sections and place them on nails, as desired. (I used tweezers to manipulate the tape so that I didn't ruin the adhesive.)

6.) Trim the tape so that it does not reach the edge of your nails (otherwise it will peel).

7.) Repeat steps 1 and 4.
